Port Blair, Oct 07: The District Administration in the wake of rise in COVID positive cases in the islands had requisitioned the South Point Circuit House, Megapode Resort and Hornbill Nest Resort to operate as COVID Care Centre to monitor the health of COVID-positive cases.
Since there has been a recent decline in the COVID positive cases in South Andaman District and also that the Administration has notified opening up of tourist activities in the islands, it is expected that the tourist inflow to these islands would increase in the coming days. Further there are sufficient number of beds presently available to cater the needs at different locations in South Andaman and accordingly it has been decided by the Administration to handover the above three institutions from the list of COVID Care Centres to their Nodal agencies viz.-a-viz., General Administration and ANIIDCO to operate their normal functions with immediate effect.
The District Administration acknowledges and appreciates the hardwork and dedication shown by the workers of these Institutions during the period of its functioning as COVID Care Centre.
