Port Blair, September 16: In a shocking development a resident of Port Blair have alleged that he has received Beer Bottle with expiry dates from ANIIDCO wine shop counter.
Andaman Sheekha has photographs of Beer Bottles being sold by ANIIDCO, with an expiry date of 12.09.2020.
As per the consumers, the ANIIDCO has stopped selling the alcohol that costs lower than Rs 1500, just to empty the stock of this particular Beer which is close to its expiry dates.
“Is this not a kind of violation, we are forced to buy something that we do not want,” said a liquor lover.
However, talking to Andaman Sheekha, a Senior Manager, liquor, ANIIDCO refuted the allegations saying that they keep a check and the liquor which crosses expiry date are not sold to public.
He further said that around 6-7 thousand cases of Beer are already expired which will be drained off and is currently in the Godown, “ANIIDCO will surely attain a loss but we cannot sell it,” said the Senior Manager, Liquor.
Although, the customer who purchased Beer bottle a few days back stands on his complaint saying that the expiry date mentioned on the bottle is 12.09.2020.
Hope the ANIIDCO and Civil Supplies Department will look into this matter and develop a perfect mechanism so that public does not get Beer bottles with expiry dates.
