Port Blair, Sept 10: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman on 9th September, 2020 to make requisite arrangements for transportation of all peoples of different Islands stranded at Port Blair to their respective destination by arranging special boats and buses.
He informed that a large number of persons from different Islands such as Saheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep, Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Campbell Bay, North & Middle Andaman etc. who came to Port Blair for urgent works including medical treatment are stranded in Port Blair due to non availability of transportation facilities and are facing great financial hardship to meet the expenses of lodging and boarding at Port Blair at this crisis time of COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping in view of their problems and to send them back to their respective destinations, the Member of Parliament requested the Deputy Commissioner to make arrangements of boats and buses for transportation of all the stranded passengers at Port Blair to different Islands after getting COVID-19 test.
The Member of Parliament further requested the Deputy Commissioner to issue public notice well in advance for information of general public regarding suspension of public transportation facilities so that the people having come to Port Blair for various purposes can proceed to their respective place of residence prior to imposition of such suspension.
