Port Blair, Sept 10: “Tourism – A New Beginning”, a meeting by Indiatourism Port Blair, Government of India with the support of Police Department, South Andaman and Tourism Department, Andaman Administration was conducted for the Ministry of Tourism recognized Bed & Breakfast / Home-Stay / Tour Operators / Hotels on 07.09.2020 at 1500hrs, Keys Hotel, Port Blair.
Various issues on the adaptability of the practices as per the SOPs in the tourism industry were highlighted. The industry is going to have a transformation targeting the domestic market for the time being. The practices of safety and hygiene measures by the industry need to be assured to the travelers in all means to be counted as one of the safe destination.
Ministry of Tourism and its branch offices / sub offices are conducting various digital campaigning for promotion of domestic destinations like Ek Bharat Shrestra Bharat, Dekho Apna Desh through online meetings / trainings for students / sessions by the experts of the tourism industry, etc. Tourism Initiative on post COVID-19 with Survive features by adopting the basic practices as per SOPs were highlighted like Proper sensitization of kitchen, common areas, restaurants, bars as well as the rooms and vehicles regularly, maintaining the practice of social distancing among the guests and service providers for the safety of both, temperature screening will be a normal affair for the guests and the staff, adopting online communication as part of DigitalIndia could be more effective for interaction, hygiene and its maintenance will play the supreme role, Social Distancing, maintaining proper medical records of the guests, maintaining the itinerates of the guests so that the guest could be located at any point of the tour, all touch points has to be cleaned with disinfectant regularly. It is the right time for the tourism fraternity to get ready with upcoming challenges.
