Port Blair, Sept 27: Recently a committee from Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly was on study tour in the Islands. The Committee was headed by Mr. Sudhama Singh, Member Legislative Assembly, Madhya Pradesh, consisting 14 members of various parties. The Island Protection Forum organized a warm welcome in the honor of the Committee on 24.09.2012 at Andaman Residency, Port Blair at about 06.00 PM.
The President of Island Protection Forum, Mr. M.T. Mustafa briefed about the problems of students of these Islands due to availability of limited seats in higher education.
The Island Protection Forum requested to allot some seats (MBBS, Engineering) to the Islander students in Madhya Pradesh. The Committee after patience hearing agreed to take up the matter of MBBS and Engineering Seats in their Assembly and assured to provide some seats in their state.
Apart from this the reduction of BEd seats from 20 to 10 in Madhya Pradesh was also taken up with them, they assured that they will take up the matter in their Assembly and try to restore at least 20 seats in BEd. They agreed to provide all possible help in the interest of Islander students.
