Port Blair, Aug 30: The Health Department is expecting to receive more 15,000 Rapid Test Kits by coming Wednesday, which will help the Health Department to conduct more tests in important locations and remote Islands. These kits will also be useful in tracking the spread of the virus.
Earlier, in two different batches the Health Department had received nearly 10,000 such Rapid Test Kits. Other than this, nearly 20,000 faulty kits were also returned earlier.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Avijit Roy, the Nodal Officer of COVID19 today said that that these Islands presently have a total of 21 ventilators, out of which 15 are installed at G B Pant and one has been kept reserved while one each has been sent to Mayabunder, Car Nicobar and Diglipur. Other than this there are two other ventilators available with defence forces.
He said that Remdesivir drug is showing some better result among Covid19 patients. “I won’t say very good result but better result among COVID19 patients in Andaman. We have seen patients’ conditions improving after two doses, although we give four douses,” Dr. Roy added.
However, he said that there is a strict guidelines for Remdesivir drug and as per directions, the drug is only given to severe cases of COVID19 and moderate COVID19 cases, whose condition is not improving.
