Port Blair, August 26: After a few of residents of Garacharma noticed that there is no movement inside one of the houses in the neighbourhood for the last three days, they informed this matter to PS Pahargaon this afternoon.
On receiving the complaint a team under the supervision of ICPS Mithun Kirtania, immediately rushed to the house situated at Garacharma near Maruti Workshop and rescued the Sanitary Inspector, Mr. Dilip Kumar Tirkey, who was said to have gone unconscious after collapsing inside the house.
It was not easy for the police team comprising of Sub Inspector Shilpi Singha, HC Mustafa, HC Shivani, PC Rohan Raj, PC Mani Kandan, PC Nedunjlian to rescue the victim as the door was locked on the entrance as well as on the backside of the house forcing the team to break the window to enter inside the house.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that the Sanitary Inspector was under the heavy influence of liquor following which he collapsed and went unconscious.
It is learned that the victim suffered major injuries on his hand and was also under depression for some personal reasons.
The police team that entered first in the house initially gave medical aid to the victim and some water and later called the Ambulance which unfortunately reached the spot after a delay of 40 minutes.
The victim is currently hospitalized in the PHC Garacharma and his family members have been informed by the Police.
“The effort made by the police team to rescue the victim was highly appreciated by the neighbors of the victim,” said Mr. Anshuman Roy, a social worker and a resident of the area.
