Port Blair, August 12: The livelihood of 14 Corona Warriors is at stake after their payments have been allegedly kept on hold for the last nearly three months by the outsourcing agent of the Directorate of Health Services.
In total, 14 outsourced staffs of the Health Department serving as Data Entry Operators and Multi Tasking Staff of Ambulance Call Center, GB Pant Hospital, haven’t been paid since May 2020, as a result of which they are struggling to run their livelihood now.
But the Corona Warriors are dedicatedly continuing their services even when there is a threat of Covid19 infection everywhere and they don’t have any prominent health cover or Job Security.
It is learnt that all these fourteen staffs have anyhow managed their show till now by borrowing money from others but now they have no one to come forward even to lend them some money.
As per the staff struggling to get their payment, the newly outsourced contractor, from New Delhi is responsible to release their payment but even after approaching concerned staffs, who deals with the matter in Health Department, no fruitful response was received, informed Mr. Anshuman Roy, a social worker.
When the matter was taken up with the Deputy Commission of South Andaman by Mr. Roy, the DC reportedly assured to take up the matter with Health Department.
Meanwhile, when this matter was taken up with a Senior Officer of Health Department by Andaman Sheekha, it was assured by the Senior Officer to get this matter resolved within this week.
