Port Blair, Aug 09: A Central team will soon arrive at Port Blair to oversee the COVID-19 treatment in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. As per reports the team will consist of a Joint Director ranked officer and a Professor of a Medical College, who might reach by next week.
As per sources the team is coming to Port Blair as a part of Central Government mandate of sending such teams in all the states and it is claimed that the team has nothing to do with today’s meeting of BJP workers with the Prime Minister of India.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the senior officer said that regarding treatment the Health Services is making slight changes in the treatment protocol by adding few drugs which are proven for inpatient as well as home quarantined patients.
There might also be changes in combination of drugs under this change of treatment protocol efforts.
Replying about Rapid Antigen Kits, the officer said that on 12th August probably 20,000 kits will reach Andaman Nicobar Islands after which the problem related to shortage of testing kits will be solved.
Another development is that the Health Department has repeatedly got 200 vials of Remdesivir drug out of which some vials have also been given to Andaman Nicobar Command for treatment.
The most important development is that, as per claim, since last two days no death of inpatient has been reported in Andaman. However in one case one patient who reached G B Pant in critical condition yesterday, died after some hours and was later found COVID19 positive. Best part is that now the Health Department strongly believes that the situation COVID19 will improve very soon in Andaman.
