Port Blair, Aug 03: Here is yet another story, where police team worked dedicatedly more than they were asked to do for the safety of public.
A very critical patient was to be shifted to G B Pant Hospital, Port Blair today from Middle Andaman for which an ambulance left PHC Kadamtala at around 5.00 AM.
On reaching Middle Strait after approval of competent authority, the patient was allowed with proper armed guard, equipped with satellite phone.
As per details, on travelling at about 3 KM from Middle Strait the guard noticed that the road was blocked by a huge tree and on analyzing the gravity of the situation he immediately informed SHO Baratang, SI Devanand Pathak over satellite phone about this.
Assuming the sensitivity of the situation and the condition of the patient a team from Middle Strait with all Disaster Management equipments was immediately directed to reach the spot and the fire station Baratang was also contacted for same on which the team of fire brigade including I/c Fire Station moved for spot immediately.
Due to the critical condition of the patient, the SHO PS Baratang took a wise decision and directed the team to escort the ambulance throughout the reserve.
It is learnt that the team removed 03 such huge trees, which were uprooted due to bad weather today. A few trees were huge in size, uprooted at 03 km, 11 kms and 14 kms inside forest. Finally after great efforts of police, the patient was shifted to GB Pant safely today.
People of Baratang, who came to know about the efforts of the police team of PS Baratang and Fire Station Baratang, lauded the efforts of Police and Fire Personnel, under the leadership of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO PS Baratang and SI M. Paul incharge of Fire Station Baratang.
