Port Blair, Sept 23: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands & CITU jointly organized a procession at Port Blair yesterday to protest against the government’s recent decision to hike the price of diesel and restricting the subsidized LPG cylinders to 6 Nos.
The procession which began from Crusade House premises at 4.45 p.m. went round the Aberdeen bazaar area and culminated near Tiranga Park. Shri B.Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU, A & N State Committee and Shri Anand Raj of NGOs’ Association addressed the gathering.
In a symbolic manner, an empty LPG cylinder was carried in front of the procession to highlight the demand for retaining the present LPG cylinder supply without any restriction. Shri S.Surender, Vice President, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary, Shri TS Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary of the Association led the procession. Braving the drizzling, a large number of Govt. employees & workers participated in the procession.
