Betapur, July 20: The President, Betapur Block Congress Committee, Mr. Manojit Halder has requested the Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman for providing one more express bus service from Nimbudera to Port Blair and vice-versa.
In a letter addressed to the DC, North, and Middle, Mr. Manojit Halder stated that currently, only one express bus service is catering to the needs of the people residing in Sivapuram, Swadeshnagar, Harinagar, and Basantipur Gram Panchayat but it is not meeting the demands.
Mr. Halder further stated that on people’s request a demand had already been kept in front of the Director, State Transport Services long back but in spite of that the request has not been fulfilled yet.
“We had already kept the demand on behalf of the Ex-DC, Mr. Awanish Kumar and he assured of doing the needful but because of the COVID-19 impact it did not happen during then,” Mr. Halder stated.
The President Betapur Block Congress Committee finally stated that due to lack of express busses in the region people had to run pillar to post to get their return tickets from Port Blair as well.
Stating all the above facts, Mr. Halder finally requested the DC North and Middle to start the express bus facility from Nimbudera to Port Blair every day at 09:30 am, while he urged a bus service from Port Blair to Nimbudera every day at 10:30 am.
