Port Blair, July 03: Despite having a geographical advantage of natural bio-shield, the remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been witnessing constant rise in COVID19 case in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Today 7 new COVID19 cases have been reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, taking the total number of COVID19 cases to 116.
Sources said that out of these seven new cases four are contact of earlier cases and three came to Port Blair from Mainland.
As per official figures of Andaman and Nicobar Administration till today 54 patients have recovered (3 today) and 62 cases are active, who are all stable.
The Andaman Administration is maintaining a record of 4006 tests per million which is very high compared to many states.
At present five clusters areas for containment have been notified, which are parts of Prothrapur, (Vivekanand & Vinayak Colony), Prem Nagar (Part), Shore Point (Part) & Garacharma (Naushad Colony).
Meanwhile, public leaders and Islanders are blaming the Administration for growing number of COVID19 cases in Andaman, which became COVID19 free twice. Islanders are constantly demanding mandatory quarantine for all incoming passengers from Mainland India as presently only home isolation is suggested to people arriving from Mainland India. In all present cases, patients are these incoming passengers or their contacts.
