Port Blair, July 03: Tensed after looking at the increasing rate of Corona Patients in the Islands, the President, Island Protection Forum, Mr. MT Musthafa has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands to quarantine all people coming from the mainland via a flight.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Musthafa pointed out that when passengers traveling from Kolkata and Chennai via ship are quarantined why the passengers reaching via flight should not be quarantined.
Mr. Musthafa urged the Chief Secretary to direct institutional quarantine for the passengers reaching the Islands via a flight for atleast one or two days, till their COVID19 test reports are received.
“I request that necessary accommodation may kindly be made for Inter-Island passengers returning from the mainland at least for one day halt or till they get tickets for their respective places as currently all the Hotels and Lodges are not accommodating any passengers returning from the mainland,” Mr. Musthafa said. However, he added that the quarantine facilities can be made on a payment basis.
