Port Blair, July 02: Around 80 crore people in the country will be benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, stressed Mr. Ajay Bairagi, State President, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bhartiya Janta Part during a press conference held at the BJP State Headquarter today.
Addressing the press conference, Mr. Ajay Bairagi informed the media personnel that the aforesaid scheme has been extended till November, thereby, 80 crore people of the country will be benefited.
However, Mr. Bairagi gave the reason behind this decision of the PM and said that due to upcoming festivals, The PM has decided to extend the scheme till November.
He also pointed out that the involvement of farmers and the tax-payers of the country in this scheme played a crucial role.
Mr. Bairagi later pleaded with the islanders to follow the appeal made by the PM, central government, and local administration to fight against the pandemic.
“Kindly wear the mask, maintain social distance, and wash hands frequently,” appealed Mr. Bairagi to Islanders.
During the press conference, BJP’s State Spokesperson Dr. Jijith Rekh said that this scheme is the world’s largest food distribution scheme.
“The ration will be distributed to the people through this scheme that accounts to 12 times the population of the UK,” Dr. Rekh added.
Several party leaders including State Vice President, Mr. M. Vinod was also present on the occasion.
