Port Blair, June 29: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which became Corona free twice in recent past, has now reported 57 COVID19 cases in last 20 days. After first and second wave of COVID19 the total count of COVID19 cases was just 33 while since the third wave, 9 June, 2020, to till today, in just 20 days, total 57 cases have been reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
7 new confirmed COVID19 positive cases have been reported this morning in Andaman, taking the total number of COVID19 cases to 90. However, total active cases are 45 while 45 other patients have recovered.
Earlier after first wave of Corona infection Andaman was declared COVID19 free on April 16, 2020 but since April 17, 2020 the second wave of corona infection was reported in Andaman, infecting total 33 people.
All these 33 COVID19 positive cases were later tested negative and the last patient was tested negative on May 07, 2020.
Meanwhile, civil society of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been demanding mandatory quarantine for all income passengers as all news cases are connected to incoming passengers coming from Mainland India.
Interestingly, in third wave, North and Middle Andaman witnessed its first case, several infections in Police Personnel and dozens of infections among Defence Personnel.
