Port Blair, June 28: Marking the auspicious occasion of Samastha Foundation Day today, Mr. VM Zainudeen Hajee, President, Andaman Sunni Muslim Jamaeth (ASMJ) in collaboration with a civil society organization ‘WITH YOU”‘ headed by its President, Ms. VK Mariyam Bibi today dedicated an ambulance service in honour and memory of Marhoom VK Moidunni Hajee, a renowned social figure and philanthropist of the community. Along with this few other health accessories such as wheel chairs, walkers, air-beds etc were also donated and dedicated to the society for community usage. The Ambulance was handed over to the Stewart Gunj branch of SKSSF, Andamans for its operation and maintenance.
As part of the launching programme, a simple function was held in the premises of RUAC, Wimberlygunj in the august presence of Dr. Lustin, Dr. Tamanna of PHC -Wimberly Gunj, Mr. Ilangovan, SHO, PS-Bambooflat, Mr. AC Tilak, DFO(i/c), wimberlygunj and Mr. Denis, Executive Engineer(i/c), RCD, Wimberlygunj. The officers addressing on the occasion appreciated the noble efforts put in and extolled for optimal and better utilization of the asset.
Mr. Mohammed Yunus, Ex-General Secretary, SKSSF, Andamans in a brief welcome address highlighted the initiatives taken up by SKSSF and expressed that the Ambulance Service shall come very handy for the needy patients. He outlined that this shall gear up the community for responding to adverse situations and improve its preparedness. He further conveyed that the SKSSF shall be soon preparing a Blood Donation Database so as to facilitate easy availability of Blood in time of distress.
Ms. V. K.Mariyam Bibi, speaking on the occasion, expressed that the Ambulance Service has been launched to cater to the need of patients under CHC, Bambooflat and PHC wimberlygunj area who are often required to transit to Port Blair for advance medical treatments. She exhorted for right use of the ambulance and other assets for betterment of the society.
Mr. Mohammed Haneef, Ex-President, ASMJ, while speaking briefly threw light on the life of Marhoom VK Moidunni Hajee and his contribution to the society. He was the co-founder of Raulathul Uloom Arabic College and Yatheemkhana and always strived hard for the betterment of the community.
The programme was also attended by office bearers of Andaman Mopla Service Organization, WITH YOU (NGO) and Humane Touch. Besides, community members, PRI representatives also participated in the programme.
