Port Blair, June 25: The SP Traffic today mentioned in a release that the Traffic Unit has noticed that few vehicle owners are indulged in alteration/ modification of their vehicles. As per section 52 of Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019, no owner of a motor vehicle shall so alter the vehicle that the particulars contained in the certificate of registration are at variance with those originally specified by the manufacturer. If the vehicle owner alters the vehicle including by way of retrofitting of motor vehicle parts, fine of Rs. 5000/- per such alteration will be levied upon such owner.
The vehicle owners are hereby advised to remove all such alterations immediately, if any, other than originally specified by the manufacturer, failing which suitable action will be taken as per MV Act/Rules.
