Mayabunder, June 23: The North and Middle Andaman today witnessed first COVID19 case of the region. The male passengers, who was tested COVID19 positive is having defence background and travelled from Port Blair to Mayabunder by STS Bus and had reached Port Blair via Indigo Flight two days back.
It is reported that the said person travelled to Mayabunder without the knowledge of Health Authorities.
A & N Islands today (Tuesday) witnessed total two cases first case was from Mayabunder while the second case was from Bambooflat area, the COVID19 patient, a lady, had reached Port Blair recently after completing treatment of her Husband.
Both have been admitted in Hospital the patient from Mayabunder has been admitted in RP Hospital of Mayabunder.
Meanwhile, after thorough contact tracing all passengers including driver and conductor of ATR STS Bus in which the Mayabunder COVID19 patient had travelled, have been sent to institutional quarantine. Other contacts are also being traced.
Meanwhile it is learnt that three cops were inside the said STS bus, who have also been quarantined. The PS Billyground has also been reportedly sanitized for precaution.
Meanwhile, as per tweet of Chief Secretary 3 COVID19 patients have been tested negative today and after two cases of today the total active cases in Andaman stand at 10.
