Port Blair, June 06: Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman & Nicobar Islands led by Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, BJP–A & N Islands, requested the appropriate authorities to extend the time for renewal of membership of the Consumer Co-Operative Stores Ltd for at least three months from 15th June, 2020 onwards.
Mr. Bairagi further urged that although the process of renewal of members/shareholders started in the month of March, 2020 in accordance with the Bye-Laws of Society, but due to the pandemic of COVID-19 the unprecedented lockdown was imposed & as a result of which large number of members of the CCS were stranded at various States & Islands. Moreover, none of them were able to reach for renewal due to non-availability of means of transport and various other restrictions.
