Port Blair, June 09: Residents of large area of Middle Andaman are grappling with prolonged power cuts since last nearly 36 hours. According to reports entire area from Betapur To Nimbudera Bazaar witnessed power cuts from 9.20 PM yesterday to 2.00 PM today after which power was restored for one hour and again there was a nearly three hour long power cut since 3.00 PM. At 6.00 PM power was restored but at around 6.15 PM again there was a power cut and till last report poured in, the area was under blackout. Many residents even did not get enough time to recharge their mobile phones. Not only this according to public the area, they have been witnessing power cuts for several hours everyday, since last one week.
When Andaman Sheekha Correspondent contacted the JE of the area he simply said that there is a line fault but one fails to understand how line fault could cause such prolonged power cuts.
