Port Blair, June 08: In order to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 in Port Blair City, PBMC has been taking the following initiatives with an active participation of Elected Representatives.
RAIN DE-SILTING: PBMC well before the onset of Monsoon has engaged its sanitation workers and machineries to desilt all major and minor drains across 24 wards. Desilting of drains is a crucial aspect of monsoon preparedness to arrest overflow of drains.
Inspite of heavy downpour, PBMC staff continuously removing debris from drain near Ramakrishna Mission (Ward 10), near Mazaar (Ward No.11), near Telegu Basti (Ward No.16) MES drain, (Ward No.1) & near Susan’s Roses (Ward No.18).
Once again PBMC urges citizens “Please Do Not Throw Garbage Into Drains Otherwise The Problem Will Persist”.
ENFORCEMENT OF SOCIAL DISTANCE NORMS: In view of instructions issued by the A & N Administration directing PBMC to levy penalties upon the violators (viz Non wearing of Face Mask, violation of social distancing norms by individual (S) in public places, Work Places and Transport etc, Violation of Social Distancing norms by shop owners in their establishments), PBMC has constituted Special Task Force teams across all the wards and levied penalty of Rs. 3,64,350/- from 997 violators.
It is requested that kindly follow protocols in letter & spirit so that protect yourself and others too.
OBSERVING WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY ON 05th June 2020 : In the mark of World Environment Day, PBMC in association with Voluntary Organization started plantation drive during the rainy season in various Public parks. Objective is to preserve & educate future generations about the indigenous species of A & N Islands.
