Port Blair, May 08 : Andaman and Nicobar Administration has recorded the rare feat of achieving Zero COVID19 status for the second time yesterday.
According to Andaman and Nicobar Administration all 33 COVID19 patients of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have now been tested negative, which means at present there are zero COVID19 positive cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Chetan Sanghi informed public about this achievement via a tweet yesterday.
“Zero Positive for the second time. 11000 tests per million,” he mentioned in his tweet.
The Chief Secretary also mentioned that Andaman has recorded 100 percent recovery rate.
Congratulating health care workers and COVID warriors the Chief Secretary said that the challenge ahead for Andaman will be to record 21 days of no fresh case even as stranded Islanders return from mainland India & economy opens.
As per details earlier of 16 April all 11 cases reported till date were tested negative and Andaman was free from COVID19 cases but on the very next day the second surge of COVID19 cases in Andaman was witnessed when an police jawan was tested COVID19 positive, who infected nearly 11 others.
According to sources the massive contact tracing operation and quarantine measures along with very high number of testing resulted in this rare feat.
