Port Blair, May 05: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands while referring to the shifting of Islanders, who have finished the stipulated COVID-19 quarantine period, to their respective Islands by A&N Administration, has taken up the issue with the Lt. Governor in respect of various other people who have come to Port Blair for medical treatment, business purposes, studies, social cause etc. have become stranded due to lockdown.
Mr. Sharma said that these stranded people are facing severe mental agony and financial hardship amid prolonged COVID-19 lockdown situation and therefore requested the Lt. Governor to make necessary arrangements for transportation of these people back to their respective place of stay by bus and boat at the expense of Administration.
He further suggested that in order to facilitate quick deposal and easier movement of the stranded Islanders intended to travel to their respective destination, the medical screening test for them may be done at designated Bus Stand and harbour before their boarding as rural people being unaware will find it difficult to get medical screening test for COVID-19 on their own.
