Port Blair, May 03: Two days long power cut has brought in numerous problems for the residents of the Chidiyatapu area, however, after complaints, the technical faults were rectified to some extend and the power was restored, bringing big relief for the residents.
As per reports, due to the lockdown, new electric lines and poles could not be installed in two kilometer area in Chidiyatapu, triggering this problem.
It is learned that Electricity Department staffs like Junior Engineer, Assistant Engineer including other senior staffs came to the spot today and assured that the NHIDCL contactors will be asked to change the old lines and poles with the new ones as soon as possible to deal with this power crisis in the region, which quelled the anger of the residents. Nearly 200 mtrs lone line was also repaired today, which brought some relief for people.
According to reports, earlier the villagers threatened the department of organizing a protest following the two days long power cut but after the assurances, the villagers are happy.
