Port Blair, April 28: The Member, UT Commission for protection of Child Rights, Mrs. Sampa Banerjee has requested the Secretary Education, Andaman and Nicobar Islands to give directions to the Private Schools and exempt fees for the students studying in Private Schools.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary Education, Mrs. Banerjee stated that even though all educational institutes of these islands have been shut due to lockdown, students of private schools are still forced to pay entire fees to their respective schools.
“Every section of our society was hit badly by this pandemic, the Government has announced many supporting schemes/ packages for many sections, but there was no relief announced for students regarding the above-said issue,” Mrs. Banerjee stated.
Mrs. Banerjee further added that payment of fees even during this financial crunch is further putting burden and creating a great extent of pressure on parents, which is ultimately affecting their wards.
On humanitarian grounds, she finally requested the Secretary Education to consider the above as a special case and grant fees exemption to all students of private schools on a priority basis.
