Port Blair, Apr 24: As reported by Andaman Sheekha earlier that 24 April was the slot for Andaman to get Rapid Test Kits, the Health Department of Andaman today received nearly 4000 Rapid Test Kits (3800 to be precise) from Government of India.
According to the Director of Health Services, Dr. Omkar Singh, a few trial were carried out by the Department.
Meanwhile, insiders told Andaman Sheekha that the Rapid Test Kits will not be used as of now as per direction of Government of India. Only after green signal from ICMR the Rapid Test Kits will be used, only to understand the magnitude and pattern of spread of COVID19 in Andaman. However, all results of Rapid Test Kits will have to be confirmed by ICMR again with RTPCR tests.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abhijeet Ray the nodal officer of COVID19 told Andaman Sheekha that Andaman and Nicobar Administration has demanded 20,000 Rapid Test Kits and presently 3800 have been provided and rest kits will be sent as per slots by the Government of India.
