Dear Mr. Williams,
Your letter of the 24th Sept. reached me on the 14th. Inst, via Penag by air. I am so glad that you are going to do something for the printing for the Car Nicobarese New testament of which we are in great need. We have no books at all and the remaining hardly old their pages together and covers.
Please do print 2000 of the 1940 edition and 2000 copies of each of the gospels. I should also like the Acts, the Epistles and Revelation to be bound separately. These will be used as Nicobarese readers in schools and could be handled easily instead of the New Testament in one volume.
I am doing the necessary correction now but I am afraid it will keep you long in waiting. There are mistakes but not bad ones. It is only the improvement in the proper wording of some in Nicobarese which need revision. This I think can be printed later on when the Burma mission press can procure types.
The S.P.G mission press at Toungoo had this kind of types before when the Gospels were first printed in 1927. What happened to them I wonder.
Please carry on. Do send also copies St. Mathew in the language of Nancowry.
I should like to see England but passages and outfits are big problems.
Rev. Ezekiel is sending his best wishes. The bishop & Mrs. West are likely to catch a boat at Madras for the Nicobar and then from here to Penag by R.A.F plane. I hope it may be possible.
Thank you very much for your prayer for us. We need that very much. Please keep it up.
With best compliment to you and the bible society.
Yours sincerely
