Port Blair, Sept 16: The low-lying areas of Old Pahargaon witnessed massive water logging on 15 September 2012 morning, due to incessant rains. Acting swiftly on the distress call received by Fire Control Room at 7.55 AM, the staff of Fire Station Garacharma and Aberdeen rushed to the affected area and evacuated more than 65 people, including women, children and old-aged persons. The entire operation lasted for about two hours and all the affected persons were safely brought to high ground.
