Port Blair, Apr 17: After detection of Case Number 12 of COVID19 in Andaman, massive contract tracing drill has begun and people who had come with direct contact with case number 12 are sent to institutional quarantine while those who were in indirect contact were sent to home quarantine.
According to details, one crew member of one of the vehicle ferries of Middle Strait had come into the contact with the case number 12 at Port Blair on 31st March 2020 and hence for precaution all three vehicle ferries with crew were quarantined at Baratang jetty while the crew member with whom Case Number 12 had interacted was sent to institutional quarantine at PHC Baratang.
Hence all three ferries of Middle Strait, MVF Kadatala, MVF Austine III and MVF Lapathy will not provide service till all crew members are tested negative.
It is learnt that one vehicle ferry from Kadamtala will reach Middle Strait tomorrow to provide service.
Meanwhile, a list of 53 cops have been prepared who might have come in contact of the Case Number 12 and all have been asked to remain quarantined at their respective homes and barracks. Among family members more than 50 people are being sent to institutional quarantine as per guidelines.
