Mayabunder, April 15: Several vegetable vendors and general store owners of Mayabunder area have been accused of selling vegetable at highly excessive rate following which the District Administration has issued a warning.
As per reports, when a large number of consumers started questioning over the high rates to vegetable vendors of Laltikri Bazaar, Pahelgaon, the vegetable vendors apologized and accepted their mistake of selling vegetables at a high rate. Some vegetable vendors even refused to answer to the public and refused to sell vegetables to those who were questioning them.
Similarly, a general store owner was also found selling potatoes and onions above the rates fixed by the Civil Supplies Department in the area.
There are also reports that many other general store owners have removed the charts showing correct price of items from their shops, which they are supposed to follow as per the instructions of the Civil Supplies Department.
Receiving inputs on this, the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman immediately instructed the Patwari of the area to do a reality check.
The Patwari after visiting the market found the report to be a true and hence, he immediately ordered the general store owners to display the price chart again. Also, when the General Store owners accepted their mistake, they were given a final warning.
