Port Blair, April 15: On account of COVID-19, the largest employment provider in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Tourism and Hospitality industry has been so badly hit that people from this background are now under tremendous stress thinking about their survival.
Keeping this into mind, the President, Andaman Association of Tour Operators, Mr. M Vinod has requested the administration to provide them with some relief like waving- off their loans, CGST, UGST and has also requested to renew all permits, insurance for a year, a tourist service provider requires, so that, they can sustain with the same business in the future.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Vinod said that AATO appreciates the steps taken by the Andaman administration to contain the virus from spreading and they support this but at the same time it is necessary that the administration must also think about the people whose livelihood is badly affected and whose future is at stake.
In the meantime, Mr. Vinod has requested the administration to also take care of the people associated with the tourism industry like the driver, tourist guide, tourist boat staff financially and with food because they are totally jobless following the COVID-19 impact.
