Port Blair, Sept 13: The move of Mr. Vishal Jolly, Vice President of BJP’s A & N unit, to accept a cheque of Rs. 1878000/- on 11.09.2012 as tsunami relief, has created a ripple in A & N Islands. The move has also hurt thousands of tsunami hit farmers, who believed that BJP is supporting their demands. The move has also reportedly triggered a controversy within the BJP it is learnt.
Now, Mr. Jolly has issued a press release to clarify his stand on this entire issue. In his press release he said “In this connection I like to inform the General Public, my Party workers and the farmers. That I accepted the cheque from the Administration as per my view that I shall later approach the appropriate court of law resisting the surrender of my land and the land of other farmers in lieu of accepting the above said compensation, but as per the views from the Public and direction from my senior leaders of the Party my above such action is found to be contrary to the parties stand viz” No land shall be surrendered in lieu of the compensation amount”.
He said that “Although my intention was in no way in any bad spirit and I am always in support of Parties stand but due to my above said unintentional action a confusement has been irrupted in the General Public/ Party workers/ Farmers. I therefore regret my above said action and assure that I have already started the necessary action in this regard.”
“I once again like to clear that there should not be any confusion in the mind of anyone, I am always in loyalty with the Party and bound to work under Parties directions. It is clear that I have accepted such amount considering that the present Administration is not at all in a mood to give genuine demand of the poor farmers. I assure to all the farmers that I will keep fighting for the cause of farmers in the Court of Law till end,” Jolly added.
