Great Nicobar, April 07: A three-year-old girl, R.Sarika, a resident of Campbell Bay suffering from Severe Meningitis cannot be saved even after the authorities took immediate steps to airlift the child to Port Blair.
As per reports, the child was shifted to the PHC Campbell Bay by her parents yesterday noon with complaints of severe headache.
As the condition of the child went even critical, the Chief Medical Officer of PHC Campbell Bay immediately requested the acting Assistant Commissioner Campbell Bay, Mrs.Lalita Tigga to send the signal to Airlift the child.
Understanding the seriousness, permission was granted by 03.06 pm and the patient was airlifted by 05:30 pm along with her parents and one attendant from medical in MI 8 chopper of INS Bazz.
As per sources, while the chopper was about to reach Carnic the pulse of the patient went down following which she was rushed to the Carnic hospital but the girl couldn’t be saved. It is learned that Pawan Hans helicopter will airlift the dead body of the child to Campbell Bay tomorrow.
