Port Blair, Apr 07: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has wrote a letter the Lt. Governor on 06.04.2020 with regard to water crisis likely to take place very shortly in the coming days owing to the delay of onset of southern monsoon since the water level in the existing Dhanikhari dam is depleting day by day and all other water bodies almost dried which would create an another disaster for the Islanders.
Hence, he requested the Lt. Governor to explore the possibility for making necessary arrangements for transportation and supply of water from Rutland to Port Blair area and its surrounding areas as temporary arrangements till the onset of southern monsoon to avoid scarcity of water problem. He further suggested that in order to avoid such water crisis in future as permanent solution, the water scheme projects of Rutland and Flat Bay may be expedited.
