Port Blair, April 04: To remain one hundred percent away from the COVID-19 virus, the Zilla Parishad Member of Kalighat Constituency, Mr. Subodh Mandol has suggested the Andaman Administration to set up a quarantine center for all those people who will be reaching Port Blair, after the present Lock Down is over on 14th April 2020.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha over the phone today, Mr. Subodh Mandol, Ex- Upadhyaksh, North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad and current ZP Member of Kalighat Constituency said that still things are unclear that what will be the outcome of the present lockdown, whether the chain of transmission of virus will break or there will still be a further chance for the virus to spread.
“There is a huge rise in the number of positive cases in Tamilnadu and as Islands are connected to the other parts of Mainland, India through Tamilnadu and Kolkata, Andaman must take precautionary steps from now,” said Mr. Mandol.
Mr. Mandol further said that according to the information he had, previously, the agencies had found it extremely difficult to trace the people who came in contact with the affected people from COVID-19 and many people were not disclosing proper traveling history. He said that there were many who openly violated home quarantine norms and District Administration could not control that.
“Keeping all these factors in mind, the administration must setup a massive quarantine center, which could be any government building like schools, stadium etc and till there is a single positive case in India, the administration must keep the people coming from Mainland, India in quarantine center for 14 days before allowing them to meet any Islander,” Mr. Mandol suggested.
