Port Blair, Apr 03: It is hereby informed to the general public that the Government of India and A&N Administration have issued several directives to manage and contain the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19. To ensure the better implementation of all such directives, the South Andaman District Police is rendering their service 24×7 and stringent action being taken against the defaulters under relevant sections of law and also seized their vehicles.
Since, the inception of prohibitory orders, South Andaman Police has registered 29 cases for violations of curfew orders under 188 IPC. In addition to this, 592 vehicles have also been seized in violation of the prohibition orders. For enforcing the prohibitory order in full letter and spirit, the general public is requested to desist any unwarranted movement and to extend cooperation with the authorities to contain the spread of pandemic.
“Hence, South Andaman District Police once again appeal the general public not to step out of their homes until and unless there is an absolute emergent situation. In case of any assistance, please free to call at 112/100. We seek cooperation of the islanders in winning this fight against the pandemic Corona Virus,” a release issued by South Andaman Police said here today.
