Port Blair, Sept. 12: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today said that he will give up his MP seat if public says that he is misleading them.
“I request The Daily Telegram to conduct an opinion poll among people of A & N Islands and give me a chance to speak on issues like Viper Islands and if the people disagree with me and say that I am misleading them, I am ready to give up my MP seat,” Mr Bishnu challenged.
Addressing a press conference at MP office this evening, the MP alleged that when administration does not allow Panchayats to do any work without proper plan then how could the administration “sell the Viper Island without even informing public of A & N Islands to a foreign company to construct a Yacht Marina and a 30 bedded hotel at Viper Island.”
He also demanded Brain Mapping of LG, Ex-DC, present DC, Secretary Tourism, ANC’s top officials to find out the truth behind the Viper Deal. He said he is also ready to volunteer first for the Brain Mapping.
“I will protest with the youth brigade of these Islands on the Viper Deal and Yacht Marina Project,” he said.
Further the MP said that several acres of land in Havelock and Neil Island has been given to Taj Group and Soma Group for construction of hotels long back but till now no work has started there. This is sad to note that the Administration is not slapping them with a heavy penalty. He also demanded a CBI inquiry in all land lease-out deals.
MP also said that the administration is not following the national calamity guidelines made by the Home Minister and that is why rain affected and flood affected Islanders are not getting proper compensation. “People who lost their clothes, utensils and other household item have not got any compensation from the Administration, which they deserve as per Ministry’s Guidelines,” MP added.
