Sir,
Myself being a literate, educated and obedient citizen of this country, I feel that we all are facing great difficulty because of the catastrophic condition due to the COVID-19 and also that there is a fuss among the public regarding the issue of the 21day lockdown which has been declared. As we all know the for some days, grocery, greengrocers, petrol pumps remained closed only in Port Blair, as compare to all other states n UTs of the nation; regardless of the notice issued.
As on 29th March 2020, after the petition was filed these shops were open. I would like to share a narrative, that I confronted.
In order to gather the essentials and groceries, I visited the nearest shop and there were only four people including me and one of my relative.
We all maintained a distance of 6ft., but when we arrived there, there was no trace of any queue. After a while, I encountered a female cop exactly in front of the shop, who was patrolling in a PCR van and as she got down she started misbehaving, threatening the common public present there.
She continuously kept addressing the locals as ‘illiterates’ and also imperiled the people as well as the shopkeepers to shut all the shops in the town. While a relative of mine politely asked the cop as to how all the people will survive without the basic essentials and food, in return the cop replied her, that it’s none of her concern and she doesn’t care about the general public.
After investigating and gathering information regarding her repulsive behavior, I came to know that she holds the position as an ASP over here. By capitalizing her own post she is trying to dominate and threaten people, which is absolutely incorrect.
We have been looking up to the civil forces of our nation for any aid and have respecting them for their initiatives and hard work, but it seems most of them are really not worthy of their post and position that they hold and are setting an atrocious example in front of the people.
I feel that the ones who occupy the designated post shall be first tamed as, how to act, behave or treat humans like humans and not as animals; it’s the service that they render to the public in a country which practices Democracy not Dictatorship.
Everything can only come to a consensus when our executive (police force and bureaucrats) and the general public will cooperate together; rather than the Police trying to be dominant or compel the citizens. As everyone shall be treated equally under the Law and henceforth mandatory action should be taken against it as they are apologetic for their cruel behavior.
