Port Blair, Mar 29: In order to take effective measures so as to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Tribal Welfare Department has issued revised directions to be implemented in respect of movement of convoy on Andaman Trunk Road passing through Jarawa Tribal Reserve with immediate effect:-
- Only one convoy per day from Jirkatang to Middle Strait and one convoy per day from Middle Strait to Jirkatang will be allowed till 14th April, 2020.
- The timing of convoy will be 1200 hrs from Jirkatang to Middle Strait.
- The timing of convoy will be 1500 hrs from Middle Strait to Jirkatang.
- The following vehicles will be allowed in the convoy:-
a. POL/Diesel tankers.
b. LPG trucks.
c. Vehicles carrying essential goods/medicines.
d. Ambulances, Fire, Police, Hearse vehicle, Disaster Management vehicles.
e. Vehicles of Tribal Welfare Department, in case of emergency after taking approval of Secretary (TW).
f. Vehicles of Forest & Env Department, in case of emergency after taking approval of
Comm-cum-Secretary (Forest & Env).
g. Government utility vehicles, Government vehicles on duty after obtaining permission of Deputy Commissioner (SA)/Deputy Commissioner, (N&MA), as the case may be.
h. Private vehicles in case of emergency/exigency, on case to case basis after obtaining permission of Deputy Commissioner (SA)/Deputy Commissioner (N&MA), as the case may be. - Health status of the Driver/Crew must be undertaken before they cross into other District and they must maintain the prescribed norms of Social Distancing.
