Port Blair, Mar 11: The Ferry Service between Baratang and Middle Strait remained disrupted for nearly three hours on Tuesday, when front axle of a truck broke on the ramp, while the truck was entering the vehicle ferry MVF Lapathy. The incident took place at around 0930 hrs.
This hampered operation of other vehicle ferries and as a result many vehicles got stranded on both the sides.
On information the police team of PS Baratang under the leadership of SHO Devendra Pathak, swung into action and somehow managed an excavator from a private contractor and removed the truck from the ramp. Finally after a lot of efforts from the side of Police the vehicle ferry service was resumed at around 1230 hrs.
