Port Blair, Mar 11: One Myanmarese poacher has died due to bullet injuries at Little Andaman on 9th March 2020, when he was shot by IRBn Jawans, near his knee, for self defence. According to information during an anti-poaching operation nearly five IRBn Jawans were reportedly attacked by a group of Mayanmarese poachers at Pongi Nala area of Little Andaman on 9th March 2020. The death of the poacher was because of the blood loss, it is learnt.
As per reports, after information from local fishermen of sighting 03 unknown Dinghies in the Pongi Nala area, of Little Andaman an anti-poaching operation was launched by the Little Andaman Police unit and IRBn Jawans, nearly a week ago.
As per sources on 9th March 2020 night a group of five IRBn Jawans reportedly spotted a group of Myanmarese poachers who initially fled from the spot but later turned back to attack the IRBn Jawans. The IRBn Jawans, who were alert reportedly fired some rounds for self defence and one bullet hit the knee area of a poachers, who fell down. The IRBn Jawans reportedly tried to shift the poachers to Hut Bay Hospital at the earliest but due to heavy blood loss, the poachers died before reaching the hospital.
Later five poachers were arrested by the search team and search for other poachers is still on. The body of the dead poacher has been shifted to Mortuary of G B Pant Hospital, yesterday afternoon.
