Port Blair, Sept 10: Under Reproductive Child Health (RCH- II) Programme, Directorate of Health Services in association with the UT Health Mission of A&N Islands has organized “Village Health Nutrition Day’ on 8th September 2012 at Primary School Attam Pahad, S. Andaman. Altogether 245 participants attended the Programme and availed the services provided in the camp on ntenatal Care, Immunization, Nutritional Supplements and needy patients referred to concerned specialist at G.B. Pant Hospital for further management. The Health team consist Dr. Amitab Dey, Medical Officer incharge Primary Health team consist Dr. Amitab Dey, Medical Officer incharge Primary Health Centre Garacharme, Dr. P. Lal Medical Officer. G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair, CHC Health Educators and other Para medical staffs conducted the camp. Haemoglobin estimation test was done on the spot for children and antenatal mothers. Iron folic acid syrup and other micronutrients distributed in the camp free of cost to the anemic Patient and antenatal mothers.
Dr. Amitabh Dey. Medical Officer incharge PHC Garacharma informed the gathering about what are the services will provide in this camp and who are the beneficiaries. Dr. Dey appealed the gathering to avail this opportunity which are in your door step. He appreciated the villagers for attending the camp in a large scale and he thanked the school authority for providing the school and suitable arrangement for the camp.
In addition 171 patients including pregnant women, children, adolescent girl’s senior citizen and others were examined and treated by Doctors on the spot and provided with required medicines and supplementary Nutrient Package Free of Cost in the camp. The participants were distributed handbills on nutrition health care in the camp.
Earlier the Health Educator of State Health Education Bureau welcomed the gathering and informed the objectives of the programme. He highlighted the services provided to the general public in the remotest villages at door step by the Health Department. The Health Educator has given a talk on Personal Hygiene, Environmental Sanitation and method of hand washing.
The Public Health Nurse, PHC Garacharma elaborated. The nutritional required in our daily diet to remain healthy and free from diseases by demonstration.
