Port Blair, Feb 25: It has been learnt from valuable sources that the navigational buoys of Nancowry Port are not having lights since months, which is making things very difficult and unsafe for the ships entering or leaving Port at night hours.
Not only this it has been learnt that at Mayabunder and Diglipur Port a major portion of the Jetty is occupied with construction materials and projecting Steel structures of extension work which make things very unsafe for a ship to berth. According to sources this is the condition of these ports since last nearly two years.
It is the duty of Port Management Board and AHWL to provide basis facilities like lights in navigational buoys, Safe Port, Proper Fenders etc in Ports to the navigators so that a ship can safely enter any port and can safely berth. Hopefully the Chief Port Administrator will look into this matter immediately and solve this problems being faced by navigators.
