Port Blair, Feb 24: Being the Brand Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation had organized Mega Cleanliness Drive with the grace of Her Holiness Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj at G.B. Pant Hospital premises on 23.02.2020 (Sunday) from 8.00 am to 12.00.
The Drive was commemorate the Birthday of “Baba Hardev Singh ji Maharaj”. A simple function was chaired by the Director of Health Dr. Omkar Singh Ji and Dr. N.R Kodhandaram, CMO/Principal Nursing School of G.B Pant Hospital, Port Blair were also present at this function.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Omkar Singh appreciated the gesture of mission volunteers to take up cleaning of hospitals. He said that the pollution inside or outside both are harmful to the society. He also highlighted the practice of segregation of garbage at house level shall lead to nation pollution free. Further, he added that at present days plastic is most harmful material to the society which will take not less than two decades to decompose. Dr. Omkar Singh mentioned that the recycling garbage like food waste, dry leaf of plants can be made composed fertilizer for kitchen garden.
The volunteers were collected more than 60 garbage bag from the G.B. Pant premises with the segregated manner and the same was handed over to PBMC for proper dumping.
Over 1 crore manhours were contributed by SNCF volunteers till date Swachh Bharat Bahiyan. On 23rd February, 2020, We have cleared more than 1320 govt. hospitals and contributed more than 21 lakhs manhours in Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan with the help of 3.5 lakhs volunteers pan India.
