Port Blair, Sept 09: It is said that “Promises are meant to be Broken”. Perhaps the Directorate of Shipping Services has taken this saying, too seriously. Everytime Andaman Sheekha questioned the Director of Shipping Services about the health of M V Campbell Bay it was repeatedly assured that the sick ship will be press into service soon.
On July 05, 2012 the Director of Shipping Services, Captain K S Sesha Sai, had even announced that within seven days the ship will be pressed into service but that did not happened.
In past after every media uproar, the Administration kicked the vessels back in the court of the Ship Building Yard and asked them to rectify all faults. It is not known, how the Administration has taken over the possession of ship when the defects persists in the ship since inception.
Every time for one or the other reasons, the process of sailing of MV Campbell Bay is delayed and now as per the Director of Shipping Services, the cause of delay is that Air-condition is not working. Hope some day, the Directorate of Shipping Services will meet its ‘One Week’ Deadline and bring smiles on the faces of people, living in remote islands of Nicobar District.
