Port Blair, Feb 13: Under the close supervision of Mr. Tapan Kumar Biswas, Assistant Director Fisheries, N&M Andaman, an awareness camp as organized yesterday on “personal hygiene among fisher women’s of Mayabunder village”.
The awareness camp has been an initiative of Fisheries Department and AYUSH to educate fisher women on personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Dr. Priyanka Iqbal, Ayurvedachariya (MO/IC AYUSH) of District Hospital Mayabunder very extensively discussed on the various issues of health and personal hygiene to the Fisher women.
Mr. Tapan Kumar Biswas, AD, Fisheries also highlighted various schemes for the fishermen and requested to maintain their personal hygiene.
Mr Biswas further urged all the Fisher women not to use any chemicals to preserve fishes, which caused adverse impact on human health. In this awareness camp Mr. Jaisheelan, Pradhan GP Mayabunder, also delivered an inspiring lecture on the topic.
Total 40 Fisher women participated in the awareness camp.
AD Fisheries informed that such initiation will be soon followed in other fishing villages of North and Middle Andaman District.
