Mayabunder, Feb 10: Following the directions of the Lt Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Admiral (Retd.) DK Joshi, the Electricity Department has allocated 300 electric poles to the North Andaman region.
On 02nd December, 2019, the Adhyaksh, North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr Dipankar Mistry addressed a letter to the Lt Governor and informed him that several households in the North Middle region are waiting for the household electric connection since a long time and due to acute shortage of electric poles, the need is not yet fulfilled. Mr Dipankar also gave the figures and demanded 1300 electric poles to the Lt Governor.
Though, the entire demand of 1300 electric poles has not been fulfilled but on 03.02.2020, Mr Dipankar received a letter from the Electricity Department wherein, the department informed him that 390 number of poles of various sizes (8,9 and 10 meters) and 6326 (8 meters) have been procured and the delivery of the 02nd order is under process.
In the letter the Electricity department informed Mr Dipankar that 300 numbers of electric poles have been allocated and dispatched to North Andaman region, which will certainly bring a major relief for needy residents of the area.
The department also mentioned further that rest requirements of the region will be fulfilled once the entire lot of electric poles is received at Central store.
The Adhyaksh, North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr Dipankar Mistry on behalf of the entire North and Middle Andaman residents has expressed his sincere gratitude to the Lt Governor.
