Port Blair, Sept 06: Due to heavy rainfall a retaining wall today collapsed at Dairy Farm area crushing a hut and all the people inside.
According to report the incident happened at this afternoon because of heavy rainfall and land sliding. People living in nearby area reportedly rescued nearly five people immediately but a lady, Rehana Bibi, age 32 years, was trapped inside. Resident of the area told Andaman Sheekha that they could not save the lady as they were getting electric shocks whenever they tried to reach to the lady.
Following this at 3.25 pm fire brigade was informed and after nearly one-and-a-half hour long operation the lady was finally rescued for Fire Fighters.
Sources in Fire Brigade told Andaman Sheekha that the lady is out of danger and have been admitted in Female Surgical Ward- I, with some head injuries.
The Chief Fire Officer supervised the rescue operation, which involved 2 fire tenders, one ambulance and one rescue tenders.
