Port Blair, Feb 03: Several passengers of MV Campbell Bay, travelling from Great Nicobar to Port Blair, today expressed deep anguish, when they were not allowed to get down from the vessel for a break, during the halt of the vessel at Kamorta.
This is a regular practice to allow transit passengers of such long journey, to disembark from ship for a break at Kamorta Jetty but sudden change is rule, left many passengers fuming. As per reports MV Campbell, which sailed from Campbell Bay, reached Kamorta this evening.
“When questioned police staffs told us that such act is violation of PAT regulation. If this is the matter, then why passengers were allowed in all sailing in past?” questioned a passengers.
Insiders told Andaman Sheekha that during last sailing there was a brief argument between police staffs of Kamorta and some crew members of MV Campbell Bay. Although no case was registered then but passengers strongly suspect that now during this sailing such restriction was imposed to harass passengers and vessel crew.
However, after brief protest today, the passengers were finally allowed to get down from the vessel for a break, it is learnt.
